St. Augustine of Canterbury

Many years ago, I was commissioned to do this icon for a young friend who lived some distance away. This was my first attempt at writing an icon, and I was fairly happy with the result -- aside from the "Cantauriensis," which of course should be Cantuariensis. As a Latinist, you can only imagine my shame.

Sadly, when my friend later fell away from the Faith, he gave away all of his religious books, devotional items and artwork... including this icon of St. Augustine. It is now lost. My prayer is that someone at least looks upon this icon of St. Augustine now and again, and is inspired by his holy life and example.
